TM-TMS (Transport Manager)
Scenario with system copies for updating
SAP system copies are necessary, regardless of the basic infrastructure. Particularly in the context of automation, preference should be given to solutions that support all relevant types of SAP system operation.

For some time now, SAP customers have been supported in system copying by very powerful automation tools that can be used as needed. In addition to this area of activity, additional automation tools are also available, for example up to the creation of sandboxes, which provide valuable services.
Solution infrastructure
Homogeneous system copy: In this type of copy, the operating system and database on the target system are the same as on the source system. So Windows remains Windows and Linux remains Linux. And if the SAPHana database is running on the source system, it will also be used on the target system.

A note box in which data of all kinds can be quickly filed and retrieved. This is what Scribble Papers promises. At first, the program looks very spartan. But once a small structure is in place, you realise the great flexibility of this little helper.

The process of creating system copies for updates can be broken down into different activities, as shown in Table 1. For each group, the software used for automation is shown, where "UC4" stands for UC4 Automated System Copy and "HP" stands for HP System Copy. All these activity groups are described individually below.

"Shortcut for SAP Systems" offers the possibility to backup and restore any tables. Not only those that are considered in the PCA tool (Post Copy Automation) but also self-developed tables. Thanks to the simple and clear interface, backup and restore of self-developed tables can be integrated quickly and easily. The command line interface can also be used to automate the process: for example, a simple line command can be used to perform a complete backup of table contents before the system copy, and a simple line command can also be used to restore these tables after the system copy. This means that the complete backup or restore process can be integrated into any automation software.

Restarting the target system: After HP System Copy completes the above update, UC4 Automated System Copy starts the target SAP instances so that post-processing can be performed.

All the data that makes up an SAP system is stored in the repository.
